Meet our Family

Our owners, Danny and Rhonda Thomas, have over 30 years of experience in various aspects of the trucking industry. We like to say Danny runs the shop and Rhonda runs the office, and that's pretty much how it goes on a daily basis.  Danny completes all truck maintenance for our company equipment and hauls our specialized, oversized freight as needed for our customers, while Rhonda schedules, dispatches, quotes, and manages all loads for Thomas Trucking. Additionally, Rhonda serves as our lead brokerage manager, overseeing her own loads and those of all other agents. She specializes in the quoting and permit/escort requirements for our customers' oversized commodities. This duo really is a "jack of all trades' when it comes to this industry, which helps our company to fully understand, respect and value both carrier and customer needs and challenges.

Growing up in a "trucking family" has allowed Nichole to build a great amount of knowledge related to the trucking industry. Nichole has worked for Thomas Trucking since 2010 and Star Specialized Transport (our brokerage division) since its inception in 2012. She manages all AP/AR aspects of the business, as well as oversees load management from our other agents. Additionally, Nichole has built a thriving truck compliance consulting service, Compliant Driven, LLC, which also operates under our roof!  Nichole and her assistant, Kayla Jimenez, currently serve over 150 trucking companies in various aspects of their compliance needs. She has more knowledge about state and federal requirements for carriers than most trucking company owners and she is ready to take on additional clients to help keep you on the road and out of trouble!  

Kayla joined the family business in 2017 after completing her education at Texas Tech University with a background in communications studies, public relations, youth leadership and education. While this seems like an extreme career change, Kayla quickly saw how every aspect of her education is required in the daily operations of the trucking and brokerage industry allowing her to thrive in customer/carrier relations. Kayla believes the brokerage industry is all about communication and takes pride in her responsibility to ensure a load runs smoothly from beginning to end. She enjoys the logistical challenges associated with multiple load crane relocation, as well as individual loads from long time customers. Although most communication is done via phone and email, Kayla enjoys making our customers and consistent carriers  feel like they are part of the family, because in our minds...THEY ARE!

Shelby Kidd, started working with Star Specialized Transport in 2020. Her background in Ag Communications and knowledge of local farming/ranching industries made her a perfect fit for our company and she quickly became another member of the family. In addition to her work with the brokerage aspect of our company, Shelby also found an interest and skill in the challenging task of over-dimensional permits. Shelby is ready to work with your driver to help find the best routing for your next big load!

Although we have a small office, we like to keep people guessing so we decided to add another "Kayla" to the crew! Kayla Jimenez joined our team and family in 2021 to assist with all aspects of the business. Kayla thrives in her communication and understanding of carriers and customers alike. She has quickly grown in her knowledge of the federal and state compliance requirements and assists Nichole with the management of her truck compliance workload. Kayla has taken on the task of dispatching services for local trucking companies, making our offerings truly a "one stop shop" for all things trucking! Kayla is currently looking to take on additional carriers/owner operators to assist with dispatching and paperwork demands so you can get to your next load without all the hassle!
